Help with Reading

The NWILC can help you

People who cannot read well enough to handle everyday tasks of work and family living are eligible. Literacy organizations in your area provide one-on-one help for people 16 years of age and older.

Before placement it is necessary to test for the level of reading ability. A tutor will begin at the level appropriate for the student, whether that is the very basic or a higher level.

Lessons are private and confidential, and are held at a time and place convenient to both student and tutor. Reading lessons are usually 1 to 1 ½ hours in length, once or twice per week, with homework to be completed by the student.

You'll find the program or class nearest you on the Literacy Programs Near You page.

Use the Contact form to send us an email. Be sure to include your email address or phone number so that we may contact you for placement. We'll be glad to help you!
